A small firm, run by one lawyer who actually cares about how this goes for you.

Founded in 2012, Fogarty Oliver Rothschild is based at 84 Chapel St, St Kilda. I came into family law because the people I saw going through separation deserved someone in their corner who actually listens — and 14 years on, that's still why I do it. Australian family and property law, plus a dedicated specialty in Jewish family law where civil law and halacha meet.

You work with me directly — not a junior solicitor, not a rotating team. From first call to final orders, the same person who took your initial brief is the one running your matter.

Specialist Practice

Jewish family law — the get, the Beth Din, and Australian civil law, handled together.

A civil divorce does not end a Jewish marriage. A halachic prenup does not bind an Australian court. A halachic will may not survive a Family Provision claim. Coordinating both legal systems is what separates a competent family lawyer from one who understands Jewish family law.

I act for clients across the Orthodox, Modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and culturally Jewish spectrum, covering civil divorce coordinated with the get, halachic prenuptial agreements, and Jewish wills. The Melbourne Beth Din and the Jewish day-school network are part of the practical context I work in every day.

Why work with me

Two legal systems, one lawyer

14 years of Australian family law practice plus a working understanding of halacha. Most family lawyers have one. Few have both — and when both matter to your family, that gap matters.

Direct-to-principal service

You speak to me, not a junior or a rotating team. From the first nervous call to final orders, the same lawyer who hears your story is the one running your matter.

Free 45-minute first consultation

By phone, video or in person at our St Kilda office. No obligation, no pressure. You'll leave with a clear next step and a calmer head — most people do.
